A 6.7 magnitude quake struck near the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
Quoting the USGS, dailystar.co.uk said epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 10 km about 13 km east of the city of Surigao.
Although early indications state there is no major damage, the tremor spark fears of people injured.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on its website there was no tsunami threat from the earthquake.
Tremors from the quake were reportedly felt in a number of nearby areas, including the Philippines’ second city, Cebu City.
