Bangladeshi origin British politician Rushnara Ali sealed a landslide victory as a Member of Parliament (MP) in UK General Election, for the third time.
Rushnara, from Labour Party, held the seat of Bethnal Green and Bow, earning 42,969 votes in the polls held in Thursday (June 8).
Her nearest rival Conservative Party candidate Charlotte Chirico received 7,576 votes.
She is the first ever Bangladeshi origin MP in British Parliament
After being elected in 2010 for the maiden time, Rushnara also won the seat beating Conservative Party candidate Mathew Smith in 2015.
However, Rushnara was born in Sylhet district.
