DHAKA: The groom is 103 years old. The bride is 99. And after 80 years together, this Paraguayan couple has finally tied the knot in the eyes of the church.

From his wheelchair, Jose Manuel Riella married Martina Lopez Saturday in the backyard of their home, some 320km north of the capital, Asuncion.

Priest Christian Paiva led the religious ceremony and he told media on Wednesday that the couple had been married by law for 40 years but not by the church, The Straits Times publishes this report on Thursday.

At 103, Riella has some hearing problems but still recognises his family members. His wife still takes care of all home chores.
