DHAKA: Cairo’s court has issued a ruling Tuesday to arrest the current Interior Minister of Egypt Mohamed Ibrahim and hold him in prison for two years, and also to sack him for his refusal to carry out the court’s rulings.

Egyptian media reports say, according to The Voice of Russia.

Earlier the Egyptian Interior Minister ignored the court ruling involving the lawsuits of two Egyptian citizens who demanded a compensation for their unlawful arrest.

Several years ago the judicial bodies satisfied their complaint, ruling that the ministry was due to pay 25,000 Egyptian pounds (more than 3.500 US dollars) to each of them in compensation for their arrest.

They stayed in prison for several months without trial and investigation.

The verdict says that the implementation of the court ruling can be suspended in case the Interior Minister pays 2,000 Egyptian pounds (less than 300 US dollars) as a guarantee.

Six months ago the Cairo District Court issued a similar ruling but it was not carried out.

A similar story occurred with Hisham Candil, the then PM of Egypt, six months ago.

The conflict involved the privatisation of a textile enterprise in Tanta but the government ignored the court ruling about the cancellation of the deal.

However, no sanctions were applied against Candil at that time. Thee court ruling may come into effect now.
