KUSHTIA: A court here on Monday (April 10) sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a murder case filed with Daulatpur police station in the district.

Judge of Kushtia District and Sessions Court Alamgir Hasan pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict. The court also fined the convict Tk. 5,000.

The convict-- Asadul Sarder is son of Poncha Sarder of Pakuria village under Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia.

According to the case statement, Hafizur Islam, son of Awal Mandal of the Pakuria village, was killed in a corn field near his home on March 15 in 2007. Asadul Sarder and his brother Saidul Sarder attacked him in the corn filed in sequence of previous enmity.

Later, victim’s father filed a murder case with the Daulatpur police station accusing Asadul Sarder and Saidul Sarder.

The court acquitted Saidul Sarder as he died.
