COMILLA: A Comilla court has awarded life term imprisonment to four persons for killing Abdul Momin Akhanda at Meghna upazila in the district.

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Court-4 in Comilla Nurun Nahar Begum Sheuly delivered the verdict on Tuesday (September 26).

The court also fined the convicts Tk. 20,000 each, in default, one year more imprisonment. The court, however, acquitted seven accused from the charge.

The convicts are- Idullah, Saifullah, Shahdat and Intaz. All the convicts are residents of Chandanpur village of Meghna upazila.

According to the case statement, Abdul Momin Akhanda of the same village was killed by the convicts on July 11 in 2005 in his residence over land dispute.

Later, victim’s brother Abdul Malek Akhanda filed a case accusing 16 people. Five accused died during the case was in trial, while seven other accused were acquitted.
