DHAKA: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has said that Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah was given the duty as per the Article 97 of the Constitution and he will carry out all the activities in the judiciary, including the administration-related matter of the Supreme Court.
He said this while addressing a press conference at his office in the Supreme Court premises on Saturday (October 14).
About SK Sinha’s statement before leaving the country for Australia on Friday night (October 13), Mahbubey Alam said that Supreme Court in its statement cleared the matter.
The Supreme Court in a written statement issued on Saturday noon (October 14) said that the statement of Chief Justice SK Sinha is 'misleading and confusing'.
In its statement, the Supreme Court also said that President Md Abdul Hamid in a meeting with four judges of the Appellate Division at the Bangabhaban on September 30 handed over documents on the 11 specific charges to them against SK Sinha.
The Chief Justice in his statement said that he is not sick and will come back home after his leave. He also provided a written statement in this regard.
Replying to a question of journalists, Mahbubey Alam in his press conference also said that SK Sinha’s rejoining after returning home from abroad is a far cry. The judiciary will face a deadlock if other judges of the Appellate Division do not want to sit with SK Sinha. In this backdrop, it seems that the rejoining of Justice SK Sinha is a far cry, he said.
