DHAKA: Now there is no bar for 4G licencing as the Supreme Court stayed a High Court order that stayed a BTRC circular inviting applications for auctioning 4G licensing guideline and spectrum.
A five-member Appellate Division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Wahhab Miah passed the order Sunday (January 14).
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam moved for BTRC while Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud moved for Banglalion Wimax Ltd, plaintiff of the case, at the courtroom.
Earlier, on December 4 in 2017, BTRC invited applications for the licence of the fourth generation (4G) mobile phone services in the country.
On Thursday (January 11), Chamber Judge Syed Mahmud Hossain stayed the BTRC circular till Sunday. An HC Bench of Justices Naima Haider and Zafar Ahmed then passed the order on, after hearing on a writ petition.
However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the revised guidelines for the 4G network in November 2016.
