DHAKA: High Court granted six months of bail to Barrister Mainul Hosein in 15 defamation cases.

The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order after staying trial proceedings of the 15 cases on Sunday (January 13).

Deputy Attorney General Khurshidul Alam moved for the state while Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain accompanied by A.K. Khan Ujjal stood for Mainul

The 15 cases were filed in different districts. 

Mainul defamed journalist Masuda Bhatti on a television talk-show broadcast on October 16.

Later, a case was filed in Rangpur in this connection.  Mainul was arrested in Rangpur case on October 22.    Cases in other areas were filed as well.
