DHAKA: The High Court directed the authorities concerned to submit a list of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of public and private hospitals in the country.
In addition, the bench also asked them to mention in the report the amount of money, the number of staff and specialists required to establish an ICU and a CCU unit.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Director General of Directorate General of Health Service were asked to submit the report within April 24.
The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order on Thursday (March 7).
Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju stood for the state and Lawyer Dr. Bashir Ahmed for the writ petitioner.
On behalf of Human Rights Lawyers and Securing Environment Society of Bangladesh, the treasurer Shah Alam filed the writ in July of last year.
On July 24, the court directed private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres to fix fees of health tests and hang lists in public within 15 days.
The court asked to form a policy as per the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982 and a body with specialists within 60 days for its implementation.
Afterwards, a 5-member body was formed on January 24.
On February 19, the court asked to submit a progress report. On March 4, the committee submitted a progress report.
