1 to die, 4 get life term for Chapai Nawabganj murder The convicts in handcuffs

CHAPAI NAWABGANJ:  A district court awarded death penalty to one person and life imprisonment to four others over a murder in Gomostapur upazila of the district.

Judge Shawkat Ali of additional sessions judge’s court of Chapai Nawabganj delivered the verdict on Wednesday (March 20).

Robi alias Rabu, son of Md Abul Kalam, hailing from Purbajagat village under Parbotipur union of Gomostapur upazila, was given death sentence alongside Taka 1 lakh fine.

The four others given life imprisonment were-Md. Kader, son of Md. Abul Kalam, of Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon district, Samsul, son of Md. Mazed Ali, of the same area, Sam Mohammad, son of late Sabdar Ali and Apel, son of late Ataur.

The four persons were also fined Taka 50,000 each. Otherwise, 6 months of more imprisonment will be applicable.

A villager named Shamsuddin Tagore was hit in the head on January 22 of 2013. The next day, he died while he was undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Later, the deceased’s father filed a case with Gomostapur police station.
