DHAKA: A Dhaka court has awarded death penalty to six people for killing a government officer Aminul Haque Khadem alias Anis Khadem.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar announced the verdict, giving life-term imprisonment to another accused in the case, on Thursday (April 25).
The death-raw convicts were Shahidur Rahman Khadem alias Minu Khadem alias Mama Khadem, Sheikh Shamim Ahmed, Md Jewel, Sohel alias Cat’s Eye Sohel, Mahbub Alam Liton alias Daat Bhanga Liton, and Kamal Hossain Biplob.
4 of them are now in custody. However, authority was asked to issue arrest warrant against the convicts who are on the run and execute the court order.
Abdullah Mohammed Nazim Uddin alias Honda Babu was fined TK 20,000 alongside the life imprisonment sentence.
On the other hand, another suspect in the case named Asgar Hossain Rana was acquitted after the state failed to prove his involvement in the murder.
Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office’s administrative officer Aminul Haque Khadem alias Anis Khadem was shot dead at Malibagh area in the capital on May 3 of 2009.
On the following day, the deceased’s son filed a case with the Motijheel Police station.
