DHAKA: The High Court, during submission of a progress report of Rifat Sharif murder case, said it doesn't support extra-judicial killing.
State lawyer Deputy Attorney General Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar presented the overall progress in the sensational murder case, before the bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader Thursday (July 4).
The deputy attorney general told the court that prime accused Nayan Bond was killed in a shootout with police and five accused and five suspects are arrested. The law enforcers are still trying to catch other accused.
"We don't like extra-judicial killing," the court reacted.
"Nayan Bond wasn't raised in a day. He was nurtured. (He was) raised a criminal," it added.
22-year-old Rifat Sharif from Barguna sadar upazila was allegedly hacked indiscriminately by his wife Ayesha Siddiqa Minni's alleged former husband Noyon Bond and aides in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College June 26 morning.
A video of the brutal attack went viral on the social media, triggering widespread outrage as several bystanders was closely looking the incident but didn't come to protect the victim.
Rifat succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal in the afternoon.
Nayan Bond was killed in a reported shootout with police in Burir Char area of Barguna sadar at early hours of July 2.
However, the HC on June 27 told the state to ask the IGP issue red alert in the borders, as part of barring the accused from leaving the country.
