SYLHET: A district court sentenced 10 persons to life in prison for pouring quicklime into eyes to damage them in Gowainghat upazila of the district.

Judge Md. Rasheduzzaman Raza of sessions judge’s court and Acid Crime Prevention Tribunal of sylhet delivered the verdict on Sunday (September 1).

The court also fined them each Taka 50,000. 

The convicts were--Abdus Salam, of Rautgram in Gowainghat upazila, Md. Nurul Mia, Altab Mia, Rubel Mia, Samsul Islam Saddam, Abdur Rahim, Ayat Uddin, Masuk Mia, Mohammad Ali and Abdur Rahim. Rubel among is absconding.

Additional Public Prosecutor of Sylhet district and sessions judge’s court  Shamsul Islam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
