DHAKA: Meftahul Islam Zion, one of the key accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case, has confessed to his involvement in the murder.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary recorded Zion’s confessional statement under section 164 of the CrPC on Friday (October 11).
Later, the court sent him to prison.
Meftahul Islam Zion was the deputy sports secretary of BUET unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Earlier on Thursday (October 10), Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury recorded confessional statement of Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, who is also one of the key accused in the murder case.
Ifti Mosharraf Sakal was the social welfare secretary of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) unit.
A Dhaka court on Wednesday (October 9) placed 10 leaders and activists of BUET BCL in five days of remand.
Earlier on Tuesday (October 8), Md. Wahiduzzaman, investigation officer of the case inspector of detective branch of Lalbagh Zonal Team appealed to the court to record their confessional statement.
Abrar Fahad, aged 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department at BUET, was tortured to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.
He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.
