DHAKA: A Dhaka court placed one of the key accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case on five-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy on Saturday (October 12) placed Mazedul Islam on five-day remand as investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced him before court and pleaded to place him on 10-day police remand.
Mazedul Islam was a 17th batch student of Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police under Dhaka South Division arrested Mazedul Islam from Sylhet around 4 am on Friday (October 11).
Abrar Fahad, aged 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department at BUET, was tortured to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7.
He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.
The deceased’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station.
