Soft Lashes

Blink and you’ll miss the subtle falsies adorning actress Keira Knightley’s upper lash line. We love how her lashes look like her own, only fuller.

‘We decided that the look should be bright and clean with a few gentle hues of colour’, said Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee, who created Knightley’s look.

Lee opted to use light, shimmery shadows on the star’s lids to keep in tune with her fresh-faced appearance. After curling her lashes, Lee applied waterproof mascara just at the base.

‘This helps to hold the curl’, she said. ‘Then I used a selection of strip and individual lashes to create a soft, natural effect.’

If you have little experience with faux lashes, the seamless look can be harder to achieve with a full strip.

Cut the strip into pieces or work with individuals, as they look more like your own. And remember, placement is the key.

The thickest areas should be on the outer edges, so concentrate more of the lashes there and go thinner as you work your way inward.
