30 fishermen abducted in Cox’s Bazar

COX’S BAZAR: Sea robbers abducted 30 fishermen, including eight trawlers from various estuaries of the Bay of Bengal in two days from Friday.

During the time, a fisherman sustained bullet injuries.

The bullet-wounded is Abdul Haque, a trawlerman.

Organizing Secretary of Cox’s Bazar Fishing Boat Owners’ Association Mostaq Ahmed told banglanews that they were confirmed that robbers abducted eight trawlers, including three to four fishermen with every trawler of Cox’s Bazar.

He also said: “The kidnapped fishermen along with the trawlers were taken to various areas of Sundarbans.”

He added that they have prepared list of kidnapped fishermen and trawlers and sought help from the administration.

Sea robbers also demanded ransom of Tk 8 lakh over mobile-phone from one of the trawler owners, he said.

Police Super of Cox’s Bazar Azad Mia told banglanews that no one informed him about the matter so far.
