Four killed in Cumilla road accident

At least four people were killed and two others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Dhamati in Cumilla on Monday (Oct 31).

The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 22, auto-rickshaw driver, son of Babul Mia of Chhotana village of Debidwar Upazila of Comilla, Tanbi, 20, of Madhaiya area of Chandina, Muntaha Jannat (6 months) and Tanbi's sister Rezia, 45, wife of Abu Yusuf of Bagmara village of Debidwar.

According to Locals, the Chattogram-bound bus hit the auto-rickshaw on the highway in Dhamti area around 12:00 pm, leaving two passengers dead on the spot and four people wounded.  

The injured were later rushed to Kabila Eastern Medical College Hospital where two more died. However, one of the injured was taken to Cumilla medical college and Hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Mainamati Highway Police Station Akul Chandra Biswas confirmed the matter.

Police couldn’t seize the bus as it fled immediately after the accident, said the OC.
