DHAKA: All-party interim cabinet will be formed soon to oversee the next general polls as the ministers and state ministers completed submitting their resignation on Monday cabinet to oversee the next parliamentary polls.
Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made the disclosure while talking to journalists after a regular cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
He told the journalists: “Many cabinet members submitted their resignation letters to prime minister on Monday’s cabinet meeting.”
But prime minister does not accept all the resignation letters. Those resignation accepted by the premier would be sent to President and after president’s approval a gazette notification would be issued about dismissal of cabinet,” the cabinet secretary said.
Earlier in the day, a number of ministers, state-ministers of grand alliance government have submitted their resignation papers to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning.
The cabinet members submitted their resign papers immediate after the cabinet meeting started at around 10:00am with Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Sources concerned said at first, jute and textile minister Abdul Latif Siddique tendered his resignation papers to the premier and later, other ministers, state-ministers gradually followed his path.
According to the constitution, the government is bound to hold election by January 24 next year. That’s why the government declared to form an all-party government.
A small cabinet will be formed to run the country till new government takes power after general election.
On the other hand, Finance Minister AMA Muhith and minister non-portfolio Suranjit Sengupta submitted their resignation letter before Monday.
