At least sixteen people were killed and 100 injured in an explosion at a building in Dhaka's Gulistan area on Tuesday (Mar 7).

The explosion took place around 4:50 pm near the BRTC bus counter.

According to information, five firefighting units are working at the scene to carry out a rescue operation.

Fire Service Headquarters Duty Officer Khaleda Yasmin confirmed the matter.

The cause of the explosion could not be known immediately, she said.

Bachchu Mia, Inspector in-charge of DMCH police outpost said, injured were brought to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
