At least 50 students of Rajshahi University were injured in a clash with locals in Binodpur area adjacent to the university campus on Saturday (Mar 11) evening.

The incident took place in Binodpur Gate area of the university at 5 pm on Saturday.

According to the students and eyewitness sources, the clash ensued when some students locked into an altercation with a helper over sitting in a bus. 

Later, locals allegedly attacked the students, they added. 

Several journalists were also injured during the clash between locals and students. 

The injured students have been taken to the university's medical centre.

Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, Rajshahi said that police are on the spot now.

We are trying to control the situation, he added.
