Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Tuesday (March 21) detained a man along with 13 pieces of gold bars from Gogo border in Bengda of Jashore district.

The arrestee was identified as Kamrul Islam, hails from Goga border area of Sharsha upazila.

21 BGB battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Tanceer Ahmed (PSC), confirmed the matter.

He said acting on a tip off, a BGB team arrested Kamrul conducting a drive in the area around 10:30 am today and recovered 13 gold bars worth Tk 1 crore 31 lakh.

The smuggler along with the gold would be handed over to Sharsha police station, the BGB official added.
