COMILLA: A woman BNP leader was killed and four others were injured in a road accident at Gazipur of Daudkandi upazila of the district on Sunday noon.

The deceased was identified as Shahnaz Begum, 40, vice-president of Daudkandi municipality Mohila Dal and president of Ward No-4 Mohila Dal.

Highway police sources said a Comilla-bound covered van knocked down a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction on Dhaka-Chittagong highway, leaving Shahnaz dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were sent to Dhaka and Comilla hospital after giving primary treatment.

Officer-in-Charge of Daudkandi Highway Thana Mijanur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
