PIROJPUR: At least nine shops were gutted in a devastating fire in Haque market under Bhandaria Upazila of the district early Monday.

Sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at around 4:15am and spread out instantly to the adjacent shops.

On information, a unit of Bhandaria Fire Service rushed to the spot and doused the fire after three hours of frantic trying.

Shops’ owners said the fire damaged properties worth Tk70 lakhs.

Bhandaria Fire Service Station Officer Nurul Alam Dulal confirmed the matter to banglanews.
