Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said it is satisfactory that Eid journey has been free of traffic jams and public sufferings this year.
He was talking to reporters while visiting the overpass constructed at the capital's airport this morning.
Quader said: "As the number of accidents increases when people return to their workplaces, we have to be aware of it. Instructions have been given to the officials concerned to make the return Eid trip smooth and comfortable."
Roads and Highways Department Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Bridges Department Secretary Manjur Hossain and senior officers were present at the time.
This year there is no suffering of travelers on bus, train, launch during the Eid journey, he said.
The government has opened the Padma Bridge to motorbikes for the benefit of young people, the minister said.
Later, the minister visited the flyover of the newly launched BRT project in front of the airport, Obaidul Quader added.
