KHULNA: At least 12 people were injured, two by bullets, in a clash with police and BNP men at PTI intersection of the divisional city on Wednesday morning.

Sources said that BNP men brought out a rally led-by Khulna City Corporation Mayor Moniruzzaman at around 8:00am and police protested them that triggered a fierce clash.

Later, police fired rubber bullets, tear shell and blank shot to bring the situation under control, leaving 12 people injured.

BNP leader Khulna Metropolitan Information and Technology affairs secretary Ehteshamul Haque Shawon claimed that police held seven BNP men from the spot.

Confirming the matter Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Rashida Begum told banglanews, “Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert further unrest.”
