BNP-cop clash hurt 25 in Savar

DHAKA: At least 25 people were injured in a clash between BNP activists and police in Savar, on outskirts of Dhaka city, on Wednesday, the second day of 48-hour blockade called by 18-party alliance.

Witnesses said that BNP activists brought out a procession led-by Municipal BNP Acting president Shah Mainul Haque Biltu at around 7:30am in Savar bus stand area.

Meanwhile, BNP activists tried to create blockade on Dhaka-Aricha highway and police protested them that triggered a clash.

Later, police charged baton, opened fire and threw tear gas to bring the situation under control, leaving 20 injured.

On the other hand, BNP activists brought out another procession where police dispersed them using tear shell, rubber bullets and water canon, leaving five people injured.
