A teenage girl allegedly committed suicide at Mirpur upazila in Kushtia district on Sunday (May 14) night.

The dead Hafsa Khatun, 19, daughter of Edris Mondal, a resident of Charmail Tatibandho area under Baruipara union of the upazila.

Hafsa's mother Seema Khatun said her daughter got Golden GPA-5 in the HSC examination from the science department of Kushtia Government College. Her dream was to become a doctor. 

Hafsa committed suicide by hanging herself on Sunday evening as she did not get chance in medical college', Seema Khatun added.

Mirpur Police Station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
