Lightning kills shepherd with 14 cows in Ishwardi

A 25-year-old shepherd along with 14 cows died due to lightning in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sajib Hossain, son of Alhaj Pramanik of Kamalpur village.

The incident took place at Padmar Char of Kamalpur in Laxmikunda Union around 7 pm. 

Amjad Hossain, a resident of Kamalpur village, said that on Tuesday morning Sajib took 41 cows and went to feed grass in Kamalpur Padma pasture. On the way back home, it started raining with gusty wind.

In a lightning strike, Sajib died on the spot along with 14 cows. After the rain, the locals, however, took Sajib to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared him dead.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Arvind Sarkar told that Sajib died along with 14 cows due to lightning. His body has been handed over to his family members.
