A woman was killed and three others including a child were seriously injured as a passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG run auto-rickshaw in Lakshmipur on Sunday (May 28).

The incident happened around 10 am in Mierberi area of  Lakshmipur-Ramgati regional road.

The deceased Jhorna Akter Sumi, 26, wife of Saleh Ahmed Rubel, hailed from Lakshmipur 's Raipur Upazila.

Of the injured, one was identified as Jewel Hossain, an employee of Lakshmipur Polli Bidyut Samity.

Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mosleh Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said: "The CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was going to komolnagar from Dakkhin Temuhani of Lakshmipur. The passenger bus named 'Ma-er Doa' coming from Ramgati collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw in Mierberi area, leaving Sumi dead on the spot and three others injured."

Later locals rescued the injured and send them to hospitals, he also said.  

The dead body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding the truck driver managed to flee the scene.
