Three workers were allegedly killed in the collapse of an under-construction bridge at Sadarpur in Faridpur on Wednesday (May 31).
The incident happened on the Jamadar Canal in Jamadar Dangi area of Bhashanchar union of the upazila around 12pm.
The deceased are Antar, 20, of Kabirpur area in Faridpur Sadar, Julhas Mir, 20, of Kaijuri union in Faridpur Sadar and Jabed, 23 of Udaipur village in Bagerhat district.
According to eyewitness, the collapse occurred on the east side of the bridge, where four workers were working. Suddenly, around 12pm, the ground collapsed, burying the workers beneath it. While one worker was rescued alive, the other three could not be saved.
Sadarpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subrata Goldar confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
The bodies of three workers were rescued and brought to Sadarpur police station. Further legal action will be taken, he added.
