Harunur Rashid Khan, former president of Shibpur Upazila unit of Awami League (AL) in Narsingdi District and chairman of Shibpur Upazila Parishad, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Wednesday (May 31) afternoon.

He was 70.

According to a press release, Harunur Rashid Khan was seriously injured after he was shot by the miscreants on February last and till his last breath he was in the hospital bed.

He left behind his wife, one son and two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

In a message of condolence today, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and AL's General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of the AL leader.
 
He also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
