The cabinet approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 at a special meeting on Thursday (June 1).

Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting held at the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and other cabinet ministers and state ministers concerned attended the meeting.

The finance minister is set to place a Taka 7,61,785 crore budget for the next fiscal year (FY24) at the House in the afternoon, after the authentication of the budget by the president.

AHM Mustafa Kamal is scheduled to start unveiling the budget at the Jatiya Sangsad at 3:00 pm.

It will be the country's 52nd budget and the 24th of the Awami League government in five terms. This would also be the 5th national budget in a row to be placed by Kamal.
