A local AL leader and a teenager were killed after being hit by trains in two separate incidents in Narshingdi early today (June 9).
The incident happened at Arshinagar area of Narshingdi sadar.
The deceased was identified as Doctor Farid, 65, former AL president of Chomodhua Union under the district's Raipura Upazila. The other one is an unidentified child aged around 16.
According to railway police, the unidentified child slipped and was seriously injured while boarding a Dhaka-bound Noakhali Express train from the station's platform number 1. Later, he was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where he died at 5 am.
On the other hand, Farid died when the Dhaka-bound Upobon train hit him while crossing the Arshinagar rail crossing at 7 am.
Narshingdi railway police outpost sub-inspector Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.
Farid's body has been handed over to his family, he said, adding besides, efforts are on to identify the deceased teenager.
