Bulbul Ahmed, a farmer from Charkauna village in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district, and his wife Israt Jahan raised a cow to gift to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for sacrifice during Eid-ul-Azha.
The Prime Minister has graciously accepted the cow as a token of their affection and respect.
On Friday (June 9), the Prime Minister's special assistant, Moshiur Rahman Humayun, informed her about the matter, and she agreed to accept the cow as a gift.
Bulbul Ahmed serves as the organizing secretary for the Kishoreganj District of Awami Matsyajibi League.
PM's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Jahid Tusher confirmed the matter, expressing the Prime Minister's happiness and gratitude towards Bulbul Ahmed and his wife for their extraordinary gesture of love.
Tusher further mentioned that the Prime Minister wishes to keep the cow at Bulbul Ahmed's house and perform the sacrifice there during Eid-ul-Azha. Besides, Sheikh Hasina requested them to distribute the sacrificial beef among the local impoverished and needy people.
Bulbul's cow is a crossbred Brahma, expected to have approximately 800 kilograms of meat.
He said that he purchased the cow for Tk 2.5 lakh as a gift for the Prime Minister in 2020 from Netrakona district. To ensure the cow's good health, he also decided to donate Tk 5000 to the renowned Pagla mosque in Kishoreganj district.
Bulbul Ahmed and his wife Israt Jahan, who works as a field worker at Pally Sanchay Bank, bought the cow for the Prime Minister by taking a small loan from the Awami League government's 'One House, One Farm' project and using their own savings. They have diligently cared for the cow over the past three years.
He said that their act of purchasing and nurturing the cow was driven by their deep passion and love for the Prime Minister.
Bulbul Ahmed also expressed his gratitude and extended thanks to the Prime Minister for accepting his cow as a gift.
