Two people were killed after a covered van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Manikchhari upazila in Khagrachhari district on Saturday (June 10).

The deceased were Ali Azgar, 32, and Abdul Motaleb, 35, residents of Muniyapukur area of Chattogram.

Witnesses said the autorickshaw was going to Chattogram with mangoes from Manikchhari Tintyahari in the morning.  The covered van coming from the opposite direction hit the auto-rickshaw in Gahitana area at around 9 am, leaving two persons of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.

Manikchhari Police Station officer-in-charge Ansarul Karim confirmed the matter.

Being informed, the bodies were recovered and the two vehicles were seized, the OC said, adding the driver of the covered van fled the scene.
