MANIKGANJ: A truck driver and his helper were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Tora Bridge area of the district early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Anis 35, son of Nuru Bocks hailed from Chuadanga and helper Mohidul 32, son of Roman Mia of the area.

Confirming the matter, Golra Highway Thana Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said that a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in the area at around 12:30 am, leaving Anis and Mohidul dead on the spot.

The bodies were sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
