Two persons were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup and Covered van in Cumilla on Sunday (June 11).

The injured were admitted to Cumilla Medical College and Hospital.

The incident happened at 4 pm near Bhuyan filling station of the district Jorkanon area.

The deceased were identified as pickup van driver Morshed, 30, hailed from the Lalbagh area of Sadar Dakshin Upazila, and Md. Soikat, 14, student of standard VIII of Lalbag high school in the same area.

According to information, the accident took place when 16 teenagers in a pickup van were on their way to the Upazila Parishad field to watch the National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Under-17).

Sadar South Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
