Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) predicted rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today (June 12).

According to the Met office bulletin, "Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Chattogram and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country."

Mild heat wave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Rajshahi and Pabna and it may abate, it added.

However, the day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 37.8 degrees Celsius at Jashore, while today's minimum temperature 21.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kutubdia.

The highest rainfall was recorded 117mm at Sitakunda in the last 24 hours till 6am today.

The sun sets at 6:47pm today and rises at 5:10am tomorrow in the capital.
