The average life expectancy of the country's people has increased to 72.4 years from 72.3 years, according to a survey of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The BBS unveiled the latest demographic information called Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics at the BBS Building in the capital on Tuesday (June 13).
However, according to the previous report released on April 17, the average life expectancy of the country's people decreased to 72.3 years from 72.8 years.
While mentioning the findings of the report, program director Alamgir Hossain today said the current average life expectancy for women is 74.2 years, while for men, it is 70.8 years. Consequently, the life expectancy for women in Bangladesh is approximately 3.4 years higher than that of men.
Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the chief guest, and Dr. Shamsul Alam attended as a special guest with BBS Director General Parimal Chandra Bose in the chair.
