Kushtia Journalist attacked, threatened to kill

A local correspondent for an online news portal was allegedly attacked and threatened by the thugs of killing in Kushtia.

However, the victim journalist Raju Ahmed immediately filed a written complaint with the Kushtia Sadar Police Station.

The incident happened at Kushtia Chief Judicial Magistrate Court premises around 5:30 pm.

The alleged thugs were identified as Masum Kha, 30, son of Jalal Kha of Doulatpur Chilmari Village, Samad, 60, son of Akkas Shekh of same village, Abu Taleb, 45, Son of Noimuddin Shikdar of the same village, Bokul, son of Rofiqul Shikdar, of Kushtia Sadar Upazila. Around 20-25 people are still unidentified linked to this incident.

"I went to collect news of a killing incident in which accused people were denied bail at Kushtia Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at 5:30 pm, for this reason, supporters of the convicts attacked on me. It was pre-planned. The attackers during the attack threatened me of killing," said Raju Ahmed.

Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Kushtia Model Police Station Zahurul Islam confirmed the matter.

The matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken, he added.
