The journey with advance train tickets began today (June 24) as people are leaving Dhaka to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their loved ones. 

The journey started with the operation of Dhumketu Express at 6:00am.

Later at 6:20 am, the Parabat Express departed the station, the Nilshagar Express at 6:40 am, Sonar Bangla Express at 7:00 am, Egaro Sindhu Prabhati Express at 7:15 am, Tista Express at 7:30 am, Mohanagar Prabhati Express at 7:45 am, Sundarban Express at 8:15 am, and finally, the Rangpur Express left the station at 9:00 am for Rangpur.

Each of the trains was departing on time, said Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Masud Sarwar.

On the first day of the journey of the homebound people for Eid, some 53 pairs of trains including, intercity and local, will run to different destinations.

According to railway sources, some 25 percent of the total seats will be sold without seats or standing tickets during the journey for Eid-ul-Azha of this year. Tickets can be purchased from Dhaka (Kamalapur), Dhaka Cantonment, Airport, and Joydebpur railway stations. Only standing tickets can be bought from station counters on the day of departure. 

For the Eid journey of this year, around 29,000 tickets with seats of intercity trains from Dhaka have been sold every day.

Three pairs of special trains will run from Dhaka Cantonment Station in a bid to operate Kamalapur Railway Station smoothly.
