A teenage girl was stabbed to death by miscreants in her house at Palash upazila of Narsingdi district on Friday (June 23) night.

The deceased Bina Mitra, 18, was a 12th grader of Ghorashal Musa Bin Hakim Degree College.

According to family members, Bina got married with Sanjay Mitra two years ago. After two months of their marriage, Bina returned home due to misunderstanding. Since then, she has been living with her family and Sanjay used to visit her often.

On Friday night, Bina along with her family members returned home from Rath Yatra festival and Bina went to her room to study.

Later, at around 9 pm the victim's mother found the blood stained body of Bina lying down on the ground. Locals then informed police.

Since the incident, Bina's husband went missing, according to locals.

Palash Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Samsul Haque confirmed the matter.

He said police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

"The body has several stabbed wounds in upper body and it was primarily assumed that miscreants rapped the victim first and then stabbed her to death," said Samsul Haque.

Legal steps would be taken in this regard, the police officials added.
