The Padma Multipurpose Bridge has collected around Tk 798,23,96,000 from 56.75 lakh vehicles since in the first year following its opening.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader gave the information during a press briefing at 11:00am in Setu Bhaban on Thursday.

Obaidul Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, said that on average; more than 15,000 vehicles cross the bridge daily, surpassing our initial estimates.

"I hope that by this evening, the toll collection from the bridge will reach Tk 800 crore," he added. 

On June 25 last year, the much-awaited Padma Bridge inaugurated amid grand celebrations and enthusiasm across Bangladesh, setting up direct communication between the capital Dhaka and 21 south-western districts.
