An 8-kilometre tailback has been created on Dhaka-Tangail- Bangabandhu Bridge Highway on Tuesday (June 27) due to the breakdown of vehicles, interrupted toll collections, extra pressure on the roads and reckless driving.
Besides, the pressure of vehicles on the highway increased as people are leaving Dhaka and adjacent districts to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their near and dear ones.
The traffic jam started since early Tuesday from the eastern side of Bangabandhu Bridge to Hatia in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail.
Elenga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahid Hasan said the traffic jam started as a vehicle broke down on the bridge early Tuesday.
He said that the road will be normal soon.
