A series of accidents, vehicle breakdowns, temporary toll collection suspension, heavy vehicle pressure, and reckless driving have resulted in heavy traffic along a 35km stretch of the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway.
The heavy traffic that has been observed on Wednesday (June 28) extended from Bangabandhu Bridge's Purbopara area to Pakulla in Mirzapur Upazila's of Tangail.
According to Highway police, a vehicle collision and a pick-up van breakdown created a traffic jam this morning. As a result toll collection was halted for two hours, contributing to the traffic congestion.
Elenga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahid Hasan said to Banglanews that due to an accident on the highway and bridge traffic jam extended.
"We are diligently performing our duties on the road. Vehicles have started to move, and we anticipate that the situation will normalize soon," he added.
