The body of an eight-year-old girl was recovered from a pond in Chotobon Gram area of Rajshahi on Monday (July 3).

The girl was first kidnapped from her house in Rajshahi city on Saturday. 

The deceased Anika was daughter of Azim Uddin.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Station OC Noor Alam confirming the matter said the victim was raped.

Police, however, arrested a suspect named Palash.

OC Noor Alam said the police team detained and interrogated Palash following a general diary (GD) filed by the victim's father.

Polash confessed to the crime of killing the girl for ransom money, he said, adding the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The victim's family is preparing to file a case in this regard, the OC added.
