A Jamalpur court on Tuesday (July 4) rejected bail application to 10 accused including expelled UP chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, the main accused in the murder case of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim in Jamalpur's Bokshiganj.

The judicial magistrate Md Ataullah denied the bail of the 10 accused, after hearing both sides.

Advocate Yusuf Ali, the plaintiff's lawyer, confirmed the matter.

He said that the bail application hearing of 10 people, including Babu, was held at the Jamalpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday afternoon.

The 10 accused are suspended Sadhurpara Union Council chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, Rezaul Karim, Moniruzzaman Monir, Golam Kibria Sumon, Milon Mia, Ohiduzzaman, Kofil Uddin, Shahid, Zakirul and Fazlu Mia.

Meanwhile, Bokshiganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Rana said that according to the interrogation of the accused in connection with the murder of journalist Nadim, the police have arrested a person named Noyon Mia for his involvement in the murder. 

So far, 14 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Nadim. Earlier, Babu and his two accomplices Rezaul and Moniruzzaman Monir gave confessional statements in the court under Section 164 in this case.

Earlier in the day (June 17), a case was filed against Mahmudul Alam Babu, chairman of Sadhurpara Union Parishad, and 21 others over their alleged involvement in the killing of Golam Rabbani Nadim.

Nadim's wife Monira Begum filed the case with Bakshiganj Police Station this noon.

She mentioned the names of 22 individuals and 20-25 others as unknown assailants in the case, Banglanews correspondent reports.
