Five drones will be used for surveying houses to detect and destroy Aedes mosquitoes in the capital, measure undertaken in the wake of dengue breakout and fatalities.
‘Crash programme’ will be conducted for a month starting from July 8 at areas located under Dhaka North City Corporation, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC Md Selim Reza said.
He came up with this information while conducting an experimental survey of gardens made on roofs in Mohammadpur.
DNCC organises various programmes throughout the year to control Aedes mosquitoes, he said adding that breeding of the mosquito has increased in the monsoon.
Decision about surveying waterlogging or mosquito breeding grounds on roofs has been taken, he said.
Residencial and commercial buildings and premises in the capital will be surveyed by five separate drones shortly which is humanly impossible, he said.
“It is not possible to survey by walking. Using a drone, two kilometers area can be surveyed from a spot. So, all city can almost be surveyed using five drones. Apart from drones, there will be present mobile court to fine owners of the buildings found to be preserving mosquito breeding grounds, he said.”
